Does Santa Really Exist?

Are you telling me that over 664 million people believe in something that doesn’t exist? A legendary figure, who goes
A legendary figure, who goes by a variety of names, slightly different stories, tied to a tradition that signifies happiness, cheer, love and most importantly, giving.
Factitious as he may be – or not be – he’s dreamt by us, created by us and kept alive by millions of parents, grandparents and families all over the world.
Most popularly known as Santa Clause, over 664 million children still go to sleep on Christmas Eve expecting to find presents left under the tree by his magical visit.
If you’re above the age of 9, you most likely already mentally answered the question – “no”.
If that’s the case, I invite you to think again. Because here’s a story that will leave you wondering, if not answer the question completely.
For over forty years, businesses in the Clearwater community and surrounding areas partner with HEP to adopt homeless or low-income families, including veteran families, to help that ever-so-busy man we all know and love as Santa Clause. Each business receives a Christmas wish list from a family, provided by HEP, and members of that business have a chance to donate items from the list to be given to the family; on behalf of Santa. HEP collects all the gifts and come Christmas morning, children wake up to beautifully wrapped present under their tree!
“Since 1986, our Mission has been to provide homeless and low-income families and individuals, including Veterans, with housing, food, clothing, and support services necessary to obtain self-sufficiency and improved quality of life.” – HEP

While we won’t be there to see the joy this family finds on Christmas morning, this year Energy Professionals worked with HEP to sponsor single father of twins, a 9 years old boy and girl, who will wake up to a true Santa miracle as they start to unwrap presents and start to realize that Santa got them every single item on their wish list and then some.
To the right, you can see the donation table Energy Professionals had in their reception, where Energy Professionals staff were able to participate.
We believe he does. Maybe not in the form of a red-suited jolly old man with a long white beard, who rides a flying sleigh pulled by reindeer. He exists as a tradition, as a sense of decency and goodness and resides in all our hearts and most magically, in every act of kindness that we take during the holiday season.
But Christmas isn’t the only program we manage, explained HEP’s founder, Barb Green, as she toured Energy Professionals through their HEP’s 8-acre community campus.
Apart from general donations that can be given year round, HEP’s well-kept campus includes apartments for both veterans and homeless and low-income families, a clubhouse, a service center, a dental clinic, a church, an emergency shelter, a children’s learning center, a pathway to employment program building, a thrift shop that accepts local donations, a community garden that provides fresh organic produce to the kitchen and a dinning hall that has served over 117,000 meals last year.
Below you can see a short video clip produced earlier this year, when Energy Professionals participated in a local food drive to help collect food donations for HEP’s thanksgiving dinner 2019.
