Organic Valley project expands into large partnership, setting a precedent for solar projects in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin’s biggest solar project starts this summer, a multi-site, multi-state partnership sparked by Organic Valley farms.

The project is not only setting a record for the largest solar project in Wisconsin, and one of the largest in America, but it also offers a model of how large organizations can come together to meet clean energy goals through renewable energy solutions.

What’s being called as “the butter project” consists of 32 megawatts* installed at 10 locations feeding into 13 municipal utilities across three states.

*based on US averages, 32 megawatts are enough to power 35,500 homes each month.

The system will power the who’s who of manufacturer’s in Wisconsin including Organic Valley Farms, Dr. Bronners and Clif Bar along with the City of Madison. It all started with a quest by Organic Valley to operate using 100% renewable energy before the project quickly expanded into a much larger initiative. Read the full article here.
